5 from Prefab Sprout

Just a short post today  – Paddy McAloon and his band were often under-rated. Here are five songs from them that I love.

When Love Breaks Down – I mean, honestly, who can’t like this? The feeling, the heartache, the great vibe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeZkLV3ZjeI

Cars and Girls – more mellow quality from the Sprout. An recommend this enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEJdfDD4dVg

Carnival 2000 – a bit more upbeat, but has that trademark mellow undertone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdYNJKZ9RDU

Goodbye Lucille – more of that cruisy stuff that the Sprout really excelled at. I could listen to this for ages.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V84TSOukdYk

And of course The King of Rock’n’roll – hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque. Who can forget lyrics like that? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T6e3GJCjow

I have two books available for unwary readers, Grudges, Rumours and Drama Queens- The Civil Servant's Manual (This contains all that anybody could ever want to know about why government runs so slowly) and More Gravy Please! - the Politician's Handbook.
